AustroDrones already had big drones with 25 kg MTOW for pulling the first rope. But in some situations a lighter drone has some advantages, so it was decided to develop a smaller version with 6 kg MTOW.
During development the focus was on:
- Small pack size for the transport in passenger’s luggage
- The batteries for the drone should have less than 100 Wh energy content for the transport in passenger’s luggage
- High-performance onboard cameras for navigation and positioning of the rope
- Partly weatherproof design
With this concept it is possible to pull ropes with up to 800 m length and 1.500 N breaking load.
The first mission with this drone in Vietnam 08/2019 was succesful and without unexpected complications.
